Kroghie Andresen received a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the Citadel in1966 and an MBA from East Carolina University in 1971. He retired in 2004, after a 33 year banking career with Wachovia, and now resides in Charlotte, NC, with his wife. They have two grown children, Clark and Hailey.
Kroghie owns and operates Andresen Advisory, LLC, a decoy appraisal and buying/selling advisory firm based in Charlotte, NC. He also has expertise in locating timber tracts and land for wildlife management.
Kroghie has always been interested in hunting and the outdoors, having grown up pursuing these pastimes in the coastal sounds and marshes of eastern North Carolina. Since 1979, his collection has grown to over 1,100 North Carolina decoys, a diversified collection of wooden and canvas decoys including ducks, swans, brant, and shorebirds.
An early decision to limit his finds to coastal North Carolina and Back Bay, Virginia, decoys has led to a very specialized collection. In trying to document the history and provenance of his decoys, Andresen found information lacking on many North Carolina decoys. His hunger to know more about his decoys prompted him to launch an exhaustive research process 10 years ago. Years of researching, interviewing, and writing has culminated in the book Gunnin’ Birds.
